Mattress Returns, Guarantee and FAQ’s:
200-Night Sleep Trial
It can take up to a month to get used to a new mattress, which is why we give you 200-Night Trial to sleep on it. If you’ve only ever slept on a mattress that’s just foam or simply springs - or perhaps your old mattress has simply seen better days - a brand new Simba mattress might feel softer or firmer than you’re used to (it’s actually medium-firm overall, which independent research shows is ideal for most of us). Therefore, we do recommend spending some time getting to know your Simba mattress.
We want you to rest easy, though. If you’ve given it a good try and you decide a Simba product just isn’t right for you, it’s easy to organise a free return or collection. In the case you wish to return your mattress during the 200 Night Trial (up to 200 nights after delivery of your mattress), please contact our Pottery Barn Kids Customer Service team at 0808 234 0445 or chat online.
Returns after the Sleep Trial is over
While we make every effort to avoid them, errors can happen from time to time. Our guarantee covers you for any issues that could reasonably be said to be caused by a manufacturing defect - like foam that cracks, a faulty zip or significant dipping.
It’s normal for mattresses, beds & toppers to show signs of use over the years, so we don’t consider ordinary wear and tear a fault under the guarantee. We also exclude soiled items and damage caused by accident (including by pets), disaster or misuse.
We know it sounds like common sense, but obviously you’ll need to use an appropriate base and bed linen, and make sure your mattress, topper or bed doesn’t get wet or exposed to the elements. Other than that, all you need to do is rotate your mattress 180° on its base regularly - once a month for the first three months, then every three months thereafter.
If you feel your mattress has a defect and would like to inquire about returning it, please read our Eligibility for Returns and FAQ’s before contacting our customer service team at 0808 234 0445 or chat online. Please report defects within 30 days of spotting the problem, with proof of purchase in hand. We might arrange to send out an independent quality team to assess the issue, but our care team will let you know exactly what to expect next.

2. Scope
- 2.1 Subject to clause 3 and 4, you may seek to claim a replacement Mattress under this Guarantee where your mattress exhibits one or more of the following material defects:
- 2.1.1 The surface of the Mattress has a visible body impression or visible dipping of greater than the tolerances outlined in the below table by reference to the period that has elapsed from the date the Mattress to which the claim relates is delivered;

3. Limitation
- 3.1 We reserve the right not to honour claims under this Guarantee at our discretion, in any circumstances, which include, but are not limited to, the following:
- 3.1.1 the fault complained of relates to the normal softening of the Mattress with age, whether attributable to the settling of the materials or otherwise;
- 3.1.2 the fault complained of is normal wear and tear which could reasonably be expected to result from the Mattress being used as a mattress for sleeping on and in accordance with our instructions;
- 3.1.3 the fault is the result of any kind of accident, abuse, negligence or willful damage whether by you or any other person, animal, weather event or otherwise;
- 3.1.4 the fault is the result of a force majeure event or act of nature beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to fires, floods, natural disasters, wars or acts of terrorism;
- 3.1.5 the Mattress is in a soiled or unsanitary condition;
- 3.1.6 where your Mattress is a Simba Green Organic/Simba GO, and the fault is attributable to the sealed zip cover of the Mattress having been subject to tampering, including, but not limited to, unzipping the cover.
- 3.1.7 the complaint relates to comfort preferences or localised firmness changes in the mattress.
- 3.1.8 where the mattress is not used for its intended purpose as a mattress for sleeping on, or is used in a manner contrary to our instructions regarding use, including without limitation,
- 3.1.8.1 use by any individual weighing more than 18 stone (114kg), or
- 3.1.8.2 where you fail to rotate your mattress (by rotating the mattress from “head to toe” on a horizontal plane, as opposed to “flipping” the mattress on a vertical plane) at least once per month in the first three months following delivery, and thereafter at least once every three months;
- 3.1.9 where the mattress has been used, handled, or stored without reasonable care. A user will be considered to have lacked reasonable care in circumstances which include but are not limited to the following:
- 3.1.9.1 use without bed linen;
- 3.1.9.2 use with an unsuitable bed base. We consider a suitable bed base as including, but not being limited to, a supportive, dedicated mattress platform designed specifically for supporting a mattress, including a sprung or slatted bed frame, a divan base or a box spring. The slats on any slatted bed frame must be more than 2 inches in width and be no greater than 3 inches apart (most slatted bases are designed like this anyway). We don’t recommend the floor and other similar solid surfaces for our mattresses because they prevent the mattress from breathing and ventilating on a vertical plane. These details regarding suitable bed bases are examples, given as non-exhaustive guidelines only, and Simba reserves the right to determine in writing whether a given bed base is suitable or not. Where you have any doubt as to whether a bed base, surface or platform is suitable, contact us by emailing hello@simbasleep.com and we will be able to confirm this for you in writing.
- 3.1.9.3 the mattress being, handled or otherwise dealt with improperly, including by storing it on its side (we recognise that carrying and/or transporting the mattress on its side may be necessary from time to time in order to effect its movement between rooms and/or premises, but we recommend keeping any such movement to a minimum); and/or
- 3.1.9.4 any other treatment which we reasonably consider as lacking the requisite degree of care.
- 3.1.9.5 where you attempt to alter or repair the mattress without our approval, consent or instruction or attempt to clean the mattress with improper cleaning products or techniques (see our FAQ section for details).
- 3.1.9.6 where you have attempted to deconstruct, or have deconstructed, the internal layers of the mattress, including, without limitation, where you have accessed, or have attempted to access;
- 3.1.9.6.1 the contents of the sealed latex layer in a “GO” mattress, or
- 3.1.9.6.1 the springs in any mattress.
4. Claims
- 4.1 Any claim under this Guarantee must be received within 30 days of the date you actually discovered the defect, or the date you ought reasonably to have discovered the defect, whichever is earlier.
- 4.2 Claims should be made through our West Elm customer service team at 0808 234 0445 or chat online.
- 4.3 Upon seeking to claim under this Guarantee, Simba may require that your Mattress is inspected in person by our independent inspection agent. Where you decline to facilitate this we shall be entitled to reject your claim. The report produced following such inspection may be used to assist us to determine whether your Mattress falls within the scope of this Guarantee and therefore whether it is eligible to be replaced. Simba (with reference to the report of our inspection agent, if such is commissioned) is the sole arbiter of whether a mattress is faulty and qualifies for a replacement under this Guarantee.
- 4.4 If Simba decides that you may receive a replacement Mattress, the replacement will be delivered to you by our standard delivery method at no cost to you within 30 days of your claim being accepted.
- 4.5 Simba will either collect the faulty Mattress upon delivery of the replacement, provided the collection address is in the country of purchase, or if agreed, arrange for you to return the Mattress to us.
- 4.6 Simba will replace a Mattress under this Guarantee a maximum of two times per order/customer. Any subsequent claim sought to be made under this Guarantee will, if accepted by Simba (in accordance with this clause 4), be honoured by way of a refund rather than another replacement. Simba reserves the right to deduct amounts from the value of such refund to account for use made of the product prior to any defect arising, assessed with regard to the time which elapsed between the delivery date of the Mattress and the date of the claim. Simba is the sole arbiter regarding the amount of any such deduction.
- 4.7 Where a claim is made under this Guarantee, its duration will be paused until either (i) the claim is rejected by Simba or (ii) the claim is accepted, and a replacement Mattress has been delivered by Simba. Upon the occurrence of either of the aforementioned events the duration of the Guarantee shall continue to run from the point at which it was paused until it expires in accordance with clause 1.2.
- 4.8 Simba reserves the right to charge you for any costs associated with delivering or collecting your replacement mattress pursuant to this guarantee where such replacement is delivered more than 5 years after the delivery date of the mattress, subject to any pauses in accordance with clause 4.7.
5. How this Guarantee applies and to whom
- 5.1 This Guarantee must be read in conjunction with, and interpreted subject to, Simba’s Terms.
- 5.2 The terms, conditions, and rules of any other retailer who sold you Simba Products, or the terms, conditions, or rules of any other platform via which you purchased Simba Products from Simba directly, may also apply in addition to Simba’s Terms, under which this Guarantee may apply.
- 5.3 This Guarantee is for the benefit of the original end user consumer purchaser only and is not transferable to any other person. If you sell or transfer the Product to which this Guarantee may otherwise apply, or by any other means relinquish ownership of the Product to which this Guarantee may otherwise apply, the subsequent owner necessarily accepts the Product ‘as is’, including all faults, and has no right to claim under this Guarantee.
- 5.4 This Guarantee is in addition to, and does not affect, your statutory rights in relation to defective products as set out in clause 11 of our Terms, the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 and any other relevant consumer protection legislation from time to time in force in the UK, if you are an end user consumer.
- 5.5 This Guarantee is available to end user consumer purchasers, solely and strictly for domestic use.
FAQ’s
1) Delivery/Returns/Defects
A common misconception within the mattress industry is that a dip in a mattress is a defect. In fact, depending on the size of the dip, this is quite often natural settlement of the mattress layers, and their moulding to your regular sleeping position. Consider the gradual compression of a sofa or the stretch of the leather in new shoes. The feeling of a 'ridge in the middle' could be considered the same thing with 2 sleepers in a particularly wide mattress, settlement present across each sleeping position.
Our mattresses, and any other for that matter, will take some time to get used to your body shape and the way you sleep, this is also why we offer a 200-night trial to make sure you get the best sleep experience before deciding on whether the mattress is right for you.
Normal settlement and compression of the mattress layers can be reduced with regular rotation of the mattress.
Of course, sometimes defects can happen. We take great pride in the quality of our products, and we like to think they're rare across the many happy Simba Sleepers out there.
Please use the table below to review whether your mattress is suffering from excessive settlement of the layers, which might indicate an issue or defect with the product. If outside of these tolerance levels, please contact our West Elm Customer Service at 0800 404 9780 or chat online.

2) Product Information
If you go by generic mattress ratings, we call our Simba mattresses 'medium-firm'. Simba have built 100's of prototypes which confirmed that the mattress design that suits the most sleepers is a hybrid - but not just any hybrid. We're confident ours are perfect for 95% of sleepers, we also have thousands of happy sleepers who say the same on Simbasleep.com.
We provide a range to suit different budgets offering added 'plushness' as you go up the range. But, no matter which Simba Hybrid® Mattress you choose, you'll always experience technology designed to help keep you fresh all night long. See full details of each on the comparison page on Simbasleep.com.
Our mattresses are designed for all sorts of body shapes. Our 10-year warranty covers a maximum weight limit of 18 stone (114kg) per sleeper for our adult mattresses and 15 stone (95kg) for our kids mattress.
Simba is very proud to be the UK's first B Corp™ sleep brand. Only businesses that promote social and environmental change in how they work are accredited as B Corp™. More information can be found on the Sustainability section of the Simbasleep.com.
We make every effort to ensure that the manufacturing process for Simba is as environmentally friendly as possible. Using only British wool and ensuring any waste foam and springs from the manufacturing process are sold on for use in other products, such as flooring underlay and dog beds.
We send zero waste to landfill from mattresses that are returned to us, these are all broken down and recycled.
The recycling of old mattress is so important to us. As many as 76% of old mattresses that are discarded each year end up in landfill. Due to this worrying figure, we now offer a mattress recycling service. This option can be added as a delivery service when ordering a mattress.
We also have a specialised Simba recycling service on SIMBAsleep.com for when a mattress reaches the end of its life, for a small fee, we can collect the mattress. That's any brand, any size - no Simba purchase necessary.
Our Simba mattresses are not tested on animals and any wool used complies with the Animal Welfare Policy and is ethically and sustainably sourced.
As you move up our mattress ranges the depth increases due to the additional layers contained in each.
Below you will see the depth of each mattress across our ranges.
- • Simba Hybrid Mattress: 25cm
- • Simba Hybrid Pro Mattress: 28cm
- • Simba Hybrid Luxe Mattress: 31cm
Absolutely. Simba products comply with UK fire regulations BS7177 Low hazard for domestic use - the strongest in the industry.
We take our quality control incredibly seriously and work very closely with suppliers to ensure high standards throughout the manufacturing process for all our products, including our mattresses.
Our mattress manufacturer is a National Bed Federation Approved Member (2018) – having been successfully audited against the NBF’s strict code of practice which sets out criteria for ensuring processes and procedures are in place for supply chain scrutiny and compliance with regulatory requirements, including flammability, cleanliness of fillings and trade descriptions.
They also hold ISO9001 which is an internationally recognised Quality Management System (QMS) standard.
Each Simba mattress sold in the UK proudly displays a blue “Resistant” label. Please do not remove this label as, if in the future after many years of restful nights sleep you wished to donate your Simba mattress to a charity, only mattresses with a resistant label would be accepted. The label can be found on the outer cover but for newer models, it can be found on the inside of the bottom cover. Just unzip around 10cm where you will then see the label.
Depending on the mattress and size that you choose, the dimensions of the box can vary. Just take a look from the list below for the mattress that you are looking for.

3) Caring for your Mattress
Your mattress can live in its box for up to six months but please keep in mind that your 200-night trial starts on the day of delivery regardless if you've opened the box or not. We'd always recommend releasing it sooner and enjoying a restful night’s sleep as soon as you can!
White side up! You'll want the soft sleep surface under you as you sleep, and our mattresses don't flip thanks to their unique layered support system. Because they're designed to be rotated, there's no top or bottom end.
You'll also be able to tell by looking at the Simba label on your mattress. No upside-down Simba!
You can use our mattresses on any supportive and dedicated mattress platform. It’s best on a sprung or rigid slatted bed frame, or a divan/box-spring. If you choose to use a slatted bed frame, please ensure the slats are no greater than 3 inches apart.
It's so simple you could do it in your sleep. Just open the box and unroll the flattened mattress on to your bed base. Safely cut the plastic and break the vacuum seal. Then remove all the packaging and watch your Simba rise to the occasion.
It's safe and ready for use within three to six hours, though it might take up to 72 hours for it to expand completely - so don't be surprised if it seems fuller after a couple of days. You don't have to keep any packaging, so feel free to dispose of the box or transform it into a something fun for the kids (or pets).
You might notice a slightly unusual smell in the first few nights - fresh-out-of-the-box foam can be like that. Once it's had a chance to air out for a few days that will fade away and won't come back.
Mattresses that are out of the box don't roll back in or fold up without specialist machinery - so, like you, our mattresses enjoy a good lie down!
Because of the innovative layered structure, it's best to keep the mattress flat but you may transport or store it on its side for up to 12 hours. Please also avoid bending.
Think of it as the 'no flipping way'. You don't have to turn it (phew), but rotating your mattress regularly is one of the very few conditions of your warranty. Take it for a 180-degree spin on the base once a month for the first 3 months, then every 3 months for the rest of its life.
To make life easier for you, our mattresses come with handles for a simpler spin. (Due to its lightweight, the Essential mattress in our Comfort range doesn't include handles)
Using a mattress protector will help keep your Simba mattress in excellent condition.
For care advice on your mattress type please take a look at the cover of your mattress and check where the zip is located:
Is the zip underneath the mattress?
This cover is not removable or machine washable. To clean we'd recommend using a damp cloth with light cleaning products if necessary.
Is the zip around the side?
It's easy to give your mattress a clean, just unzip the top white sleep surface and pop this in the machine at a maximum of 40°. The grey half can only be spot cleaned with a damp cloth.
